In addition, some teeth may be discolored due to defective fillings or decay, and these require repair before cosmetic procedures. Cavities and gum disease can become worse if not treated before exposure to the chemicals used in certain whitening treatments. Other dental work, such as crowns or veneers, should be done after whitening.

If you choose Zoom! whitening, you will have a bleaching gel applied to your teeth in the office, then sit under a special lamp that activates the gel for approximately an hour. Proven to be fast, effective, and long-lasting, Zoom whitening offers an average of eight shades of improvement in one treatment.

If you decide on a take-home whitening kit, impressions will be made of your teeth for custom whitening trays. We’ll give you instructions for dispensing the whitening gel and wearing the trays. Usually the trays are worn one hour a day for 14 days, and you can expect up to six shades of improvement. The trays can be re-used the trays whenever you need a touch-up.

We can also advise you on over-the-counter methods. Typically, over-the-counter methods may be less expensive than treatments prescribed by your dentist, but they are usually not as effective and may have side effects such as increased sensitivity.
